The Digital Religion Department visited Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Brahmpundit, President of the United Nations Vesak Day, and promoted the digitalization of Buddhism in Thailand

On September 17, 2023, the Digital Religion Department of NetDragon Websoft Inc. was honored to participate in the grand birthday celebration of Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Brahmpundit, member of the Supreme Sangha Committee of Thailand, Chairman of the International Council of the United Nations Vesak Day, Chairman of the International Association of Buddhist Universities, and former President of Mahachulalongkorn University. The crowd was like a tide, and the business community and believers came to celebrate together.

On the 18th, the department also held a special meeting with Most Ven. to report the latest progress of the current meta-universe development plan since the release of the United Nations Vesak Day meta-Universe in May this year, and to discuss the intention of cooperation on the subsequent joint establishment of the Digital Religion Foundation. At the same time, the department also showed the digital online Buddha bathing and lighting platform, Rokid AR glasses, AI smart speakers, etc., and conducted in-depth discussions on the follow-up cooperation plans for related products.

At present, the National Center for the Promotion of Buddhism in Thailand has released the outline of the master plan for the promotion of Buddhism in 2023-2037, and Most Ven. has been appointed by the state to be responsible for the implementation of the plan. The plan's action plan includes:
1.Develop more practitioners of Buddhism at the national and international levels
2. Use new media technology to create and innovate knowledge to spread Buddhism
3. The development of an Internet management system will improve the effectiveness of promoting Buddhism
4. Promote Buddhism and help build a strong and sustainable way of life, values and Buddhist culture
5. Promote Thailand as a world Buddhist center by promoting Buddhism overseas

In addition to meeting with Most Ven., the Digital Religion Department also held talks with Montian, Vice President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB). WFB has established close links with top Buddhist institutions in many countries around the world. During the meeting, the two sides discussed in depth the prospect of building a global management platform for Buddhist institutions and preparing for the upcoming Council meeting in November to showcase NetDragon’s technical products to Buddhist institutions around the world.

In terms of the application of digital religion, our team has cooperated with Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan, Wat Arun etc., to provide these temples with a digital religion H5 platform integrating online tour, online lighting functions. In the future, the Digital Religion department also plans to establish a partnership with the largest Chinese temples in the Bangkok area, Wat Phusong and Wat Long Lian, to jointly usher in a new era of digital religion.
